Little Death is an artwork I made while processing the decision to start taking antidepressants. I no longer knew who I was outside of my depression. Outside of the dramatized stories I told myself. It felt like a death. I wasn't sure whether it was a betrayal of myself. A pure repression of my anger, my sadness, my emotions. I was scared. Nine months later, I can tell you now that the loss of the depressed self was simply making space for me to become myself. To create a new self based on what I loved and enjoyed. And I am so grateful for that.
