Who Am I?

  • My name is Emma Davies, and I’m a 23-year-old artist based in Amsterdam. I was born in Australia but moved to the Netherlands as a four-year-old. I always loved crafting, drawing, and getting lost in dream worlds.

  • I hold creativity, diversity, and imperfection to be the highest virtues.

  • In permaculture farming, weeds are used to "read" the health of soil. The weeds that grow naturally tell us what the soil is rich in, and what it lacks. We can plant new seeds based on the specific needs and strength of the soil. It is never possible to remove every last root of a weed; what is possible is to replace it with something that feeds the soil.

We cannot kill the symptoms of a sick society without treating the root cause. We cannot kill cruelty without becoming cruel ourselves; rather, we can treat the causes of cruelty, and create healthier outlets for it. We cannot kill every misogynist; rather, we can study the unmet needs that cause misogyny. Loneliness, dissatisfaction, and meaninglessness are not products of womanhood: they are products of capitalism and patriarchy.
